Biography
Áki Ásgeirsson is a composer and multimedia artist from Garður, Iceland. He has written music for traditional instruments as well as designed new acoustic instruments, audio software, computer controlled instruments and sound installations.
Áki has been active in the Icelandic experimental music/art scene as a composer, sound artist and performer. With background in free improvisation, electronic music, art coding and algorithmic music, Áki often works in collaboration with other artists of various fields.
He is a member of composer collective S.L.Á.T.U.R. and co-organises the RAFLOST festival for electronic art.

Tónskáldið og listamaðurinn Áki Ásgeirsson býr til sín eigin tölvustýrð hljóðfæri, hugbúnað og hljóðinnsetningar ásamt því að semja verk fyrir hefðbundin hljóðfæri. Hann er virkur í íslenskri tilraunatónlist sem tónskáld, hljóðlistamaður og flytjandi. Áki er með bakgrunn í tónlistarspuna, raftónlist, kóðun og kerfisbundinni tónlist og er jafnframt virkur í samstarfi við aðra listamenn frá ólíkum hornum listheimsins.
Áki er stofnandi S.L.Á.T.U.R. og raflistahátíðarinnar RAFLOST. Áki hefur frá 2005 starfað sem kennari í tónslistarforritun, hljóðlist, tónsmíðum og miðlatengdum raflistum hjá Listaháskóla Íslands, Tónlistarskóla Reykjanesbæjar, Myndlistaskólanum í Reykjavík og Stúdíó Sýrlandi. Áki lærði á trompet í Tónlistarskóla Gerðahrepps hjá Lilju Valdimarsdóttur, í Tónlistarskóla Keflavíkur hjá Karen Sturlaugsson og Tónlistarskólanum í Reykjavík hjá Ásgeiri Steingrímssyni; tölvutónlist hjá Þóri Baldurssyni í Keflavík og tónsmíðar hjá Clarence Barlow í Tónlistarháskólanum í Den Haag.
Verk eftir Áka hafa verið flutt á hátíðum á borð við Techtonics, Norræna Músíkdaga, Myrka Músíkdaga, Frequenz í Kiel, Borealis Festival í Bergen, MaerzMusik í Berlín og Sláturtíð. Áki hefur unnið fjölda samstarfsverkefna með listafólki og stofnunum, má þar nefna Adapter Ensemble, Caput, Egil Sæbjörnsson, Heklu Dögg Jónsdóttur, iiL og Sinfóníuhljómsveit Íslands.
